TOWN councillors have moved a step closer to making an official complaint about the handling of a huge supermarket and housing plan.

Members of Ripley Town Council last night voted to submit evidence of maladministration by Amber Valley Borough Council over the proposed Ripley Gateway development.

The project would see more than 100 houses and a Morrisons store built.

Town council leader Steve Freeborn submitted freedom of information requests to the authority regarding confidential meetings it held about the development.

He said the documents he received had evidence of the council's concerns over "advice given to the borough council's members and non-compliance with the authority's own policies."

This will be presented to borough council leader Stuart Bradford for him to consider.
