Council confirms parking permit prices will rise
PRICE rises for residents' parking schemes in parts of Ilkeston and Long Eaton have been confirmed by Derbyshire County Council.
The authority runs the schemes and says the costs of "administration, enforcement and maintenance" of them has increased.
Councillor Simon Spencer, the county's cabinet member for highways and transport, has confirmed that the cost of a first application for a residents' parking permit would rise from £26 a year to £35.
The price of second and subsequent permits would remain at £50. Businesses would see charges go up from £50 a year to £70.
The changes will affect hundreds of people in Ilkeston, including those who live in Moss Road, Albert Street, Queens Drive, Burns Street, St Mary Street, New Lawn Road, Jackson Avenue, Wilmot Street, Gregory Street and Fullwood Street.
In Long Eaton, the affected roads are Broad Street, Stanley Street, Albert Road, Northcote Street, Salisbury Street, Edward Road, Milner Road, Oxford Street Alexandra Road and Lawrence Street.
A decision on when the changes will come into place has yet to be made by the authority that sends out bills for the permits, Erewash Borough Council.

“It should be introduced nationwide to discourage use of polluting cars. No excuse for not using public transport nowadays.”
