A HUSBAND and wife have left their home and jobs in Australia and travelled to Derby to start a business making cupcakes .

David and Michelle Hollinshead met in the city as teenagers and moved Down Under to start a new life together 14 years ago, both aged 25.

But after becoming disillusioned with their jobs and beginning to miss the UK, they decided to return.

Their business, Cameo Cupcakes, is due to launch next month and, with several orders already on the books, Michelle, from Spondon, is glad they made the move.

She said: "Cupcakes have become really big in Sydney over the last five years. After taking a one-day cupcake-making course recently I discovered it was something I was actually quite good at."

At the moment the business is on a delivery basis, with the cakes being baked at home.

“It would have been a good idea to have some examples on the website! Bit of a let down.”
