Court case shows RSPCA has become too political
I REFER to the letter from RSPCA Farm Animal Scientist Alice Clark and her concern for the welfare of turkeys farmed for Christmas dinner (Insist on turkeys kept in high standard of welfare, Opinion, December 21).
Recently, the RSPCA brought a prosecution against the Heythrop fox hunt, in Oxfordshire, for the death of one verminous fox. The court action cost the RSPCA £333,000 of public donations given to support the welfare of domestic animals.
The RSPCA has become too political.

“The RSPCA is there to protect all animals from cruelty. In successfully prosecuting the Heythrop Hunt it was only carrying out that which it is mandated to do. Although, I applaud the organisation for it's success and regard it as money well spent the Crown Prosecution Service and police should have carried it out and not rely on charity money to do their work for them.”
