Cow rescued from mud in field near Alfreton

A COW stuck in mud up to its neck had to be rescued by fire crews from Alfreton and Matlock.

They were called to a field just off the A61 in Alfreton at 2pm and it took them almost 90 minutes to free the cow unharmed.

    Firefighters from Alfreton and Matlock stations were sent to rescue the cow.

The animal was returned to the care of its owner and the RSPCA, which was also in attendance during the rescue.
