TOP scorer Jamie Ward and midfielder Craig Bryson are pencilled in for a return to training on Friday ahead of Derby County's TV clash against Leicester City on Saturday.

Ward (hamstring) and Bryson (groin) have missed the last two matches but Derby hope the pair can feature against the Foxes at Pride Park.

"They will train one-to-one with the physios this week up to Friday, when the plan is for them to train and we will see how they go from there," said manager Nigel Clough.

"The weather as it is at the moment is not helping. The pitches are solid.

"We have trained indoors, which is not good for either player at the moment, so they are better doing one-to-one sessions and building up from there.

"There is a two-week international break after Saturday, so even if they were to feel their injuries, at least they would have that break to recover."

Defender Kieron Freeman (ankle) trained yesterday and Mark O'Brien (knee) is doing one-to-one sessions.

"Kieron has trained but because we are indoors, Mark cannot train because of his knee.

"He will do some work with the physios," said Clough.

Manchester United are understood to have secured first option to sign Jeffrey Schlupp from Leicester after a Bolton Wanderers bid was rejected.

Bolton attempted to sign Schlupp on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a £1.5m deal in the summer but Leicester refused amid rumours that they expect United to make a bid.

“You're shiftimg posts ibelieveido. What would make.you.think.that NC wasnt the chosen one? 10 years midtable, relegation, what? I'm still asking in all honesty. What would make you think Clough wasnt the right manager? Man up and tell us. All i needed this season was a to0 half finish. And still do, to give NC the benefit. And I'm sorry but after 4 and a half years that's pretty generous. So what circumstances would make you doubt Nige?”

“I could name another 10 players he has fallen out with. And my terminology of falling out is bringing in a player at a decent cost and effort only for them to be given hardly a chance and being shipped off elsewhere. Either fallen out of his favour or simply he lacks poor judgement in signing them in the 1st place...take your pick.

Think fans have a right to question where we are, 4 seasons of this deserves questions to be asked.”

    “Fallen out ?????!!!!!?????!!!!!.

There should perhaps be an age limit for posters on here.

Like say 6 yrs old or older to post.
    -------------------------------------------------------
When your in a tight spot, backed into a corner, you have
to come out fighting or just give up,N.C will NEVER GIVE UP,
and those two players like the rest of the squad will fight right
    beside him....................”

“Usual controdiction from nc, sometimes its not worth risking injured players, other times its patch them up and hope for the best. Not at all professional. If he hadn't fallen out with Bailey, Robinson, Tyson and Naylor w'ed have a bigger pool of players to let players recover properly. He's responsible for bringing Bryson back too quickly over Christmas, you cant mask a medial ligament injury.”

“This smacks of desperation. Wouldn't it be better not to risk them and give them both the full 3 weeks to recover, especially Ward?”
