FORMER Derbyshire wicketkeeper Jamie Pipe – now the county club's physiotherapist – will play cricket for Chesterfield during 2010.

Pipe (right), who retired from the first-class game aged only 31 at the end of the 2009 season, is likely to play principally as a batsman for the 2008 Derbyshire Premier League champions.

Like a number of clubs, Chesterfield are seeing some changes for the 2010 season, with opening batsman Kevin Leatherday having returned to Matlock and taken all-rounder Peter Camm with him.

Another all-rounder, Luke Thomas, is returning to Swarkestone after only one season at Queen's Park.

But Chesterfield have added wicketkeeper-batsman James Colton, from Yorkshire & Derbyshire League side Sheffield Collegiate, and highly-rated young all-rounder Matt Higginbottom, from Hayfield, who is on a summer contract with Derbyshire.
