IT WAS not to be for Jon Mozley in the National Circuit Race Championship around the streets of Beverley in Yorkshire last week.

The Borrowash rider came in sixth, admitting that he was "beaten by the best" as top road racer Russell Downing took the crown from his defending champion brother, Dean.

Ahead of 21-year-old Mozley were a who's who of top British road racing, with double British road race champion Jeremy Hunt second, Olympic gold medallist Rob Hayles third, Dean Downing fourth and veteran former continental professional Malcolm Elliott fifth.
