“Mark, I didn't realise there used to be speed humps on Boulton Lane???
Anything going over them on a regular basis like you say, should be going slow enough so as not to cause any damage to the vehicle.......
I myself never take this bend faster than 20-25mph as I know what the idiots are like coming too fast the other way, always over the central white line.

Maybe they are not the answer, but something needs doing. Traffic calming like you said, perhaps they could also widen the road so that the bend is not so severe. Better drainage is certainly needed.”

    “Speed humps?

The same speed humps that caused the death of an elderly cyclist a few years ago?

No Sarah, what Boulton Lane needs are proper traffic calming measures such as priority "give way" narrowings every so often.

Speed humps are not the answer especially when they can cause emergency service vehicles to slow down, or damage to anything going over them on a regular basis.”

“I live on oak drive which is off boulton lane, I just want to say my thoughts are with the family, and the driver after seeing them in shock, i would also like to add that the derby city council have been told on many occasions about that bend and the drainage system on that corner and still nothing has been done. Once again My thoughts are with the cyclists family and also the driver of the benz”

“Condolences to the family of the victim. This is a result of removing the speed humps.”

“Dave, hysteria? Do you live on this road to know what it's like? Maybe not quite 50mph, but even taking the bend at 30mph can be dodgy when there is traffic coming the other way. And when the huge puddle is at the side of the road, and cars move over to avoid it, 30mph is still too fast.”

“No its not just hysteria? I drive all over the uk for a living this don¿t make me a expert but a good judge of speed you tend to know when someone is doing over 30mph, but I suppose when you get a 7 and halt ton lorry taking off and going through people fences and 4 wheel drive cars going through garden walls this must be hysteria or people doing 30mph.But why don¿t you come down and have a look for yourself until then mate don¿t comment on something you don¿t know about.”

“Johnathan - what speed measurement devices do you use to determine that they are doing 50mph or more? Or is it just hysteria?”
