A CYCLIST is alleged to have got off his bike, approached a teenager outside Derby Council House, punched him and then ridden off.

Police say the 19-year old victim had crossed Derwent Street at the zebra crossing and was stood outside the entrance of the Council House when he was approached by a man on a bike from the direction of Corporation Street.

The cyclist is alleged to have put the bicycle against the wall and punched the victim in the nose before getting back on the bike and riding off towards the Corn Market.

The victim told police his alleged attacker is white, with short dark hair and was wearing grey jacket, jeans and a rucksack.

It is thought the man had crossed the road at the same time as the cyclist.

The victim suffered pain and bleeding from his nose but it is not thought he received any serious injuries.

Police says the incident happened at around 8.40am on Tuesday, January 22 and any witnesses should call them on 101.

“I would say its far from 'fairly typical' actually Professional (ha that's an oxymoron John)
The vast majority of average cyclists are not arrogant and are law abiding, certinatly less inclined to 'road rage' than those road users that feel safe and protected inside a large metal box

Coralsea, given the article suggests an incident happened when the person was on a zebra crossing its probably fair to say the cyclist was not on the pavement at the time, although this does not excuse his actions”
