LEE organised a sponsored bike ride to raise cash for the British Kidney Patient Association (BKPA).

The charity helped the family with travel costs during Willow's stay in hospital and bought two sheds so they have somewhere to store her medication.

He said: "You never think something like this would happen to your own child, and you do hear about these charities and what they do.

"But it is not until you are in that situation that you realise how important they are."

Lee and 12 friends rode from Mackworth to Matlock and raised £2,500 for the charity.

The association works to improve the quality of life for adults and children with kidney disease.

Every year the BKPA funds much-needed short breaks and holidays for more than 350 couples, children and families affected by kidney disease.
