NO DECISION ON CARERS' FUNDING
CUTS planned to funding that Derby City Council uses to help carers are likely to be shelved at tonight's cabinet meeting so the authority can carry out more public consultation.
The council had planned to reduce cash available for things like one-off grants for holidays, gym membership and internet access, for which carers can apply if they prove they would help their role.
It had wanted to save £225,000 in 2013-14 and £16,000 in 2014-15 by doing this. Now it is expected to decide more consultation is needed on the subject.
Councillor Fareed Hussain, cabinet member for adults and health, said: "We felt we may not have fully covered ourselves in terms of consultation.
