Dance teacher and young girls frightened by Mickleover gang
A dance teacher and a group of young girls were forced to lock themselves inside a village hall after thugs banged on the windows.
Police said today that the instructor and youngsters were in the Pavilion, in Vicarage Park, Mickleover, when a group of youths started banging on the doors and windows.
PC Keith Bird said: "They felt extremely frightened and locked themselves in the hall. The group of youths then ran into the toilets shouting and being rowdy and set off an alarm. The same group are also suspected of throwing eggs at surrounding houses."
Five youths were identified after last week's incident and were warned about their behaviour by police in front of their parents.
PC Bird said: "The parents were horrified at what had happened and have assured the police that their children will not be let out again after dark for some considerable time.
"We will not tolerate anti-social behaviour of any kind, this particular incident was totally unacceptable and I hope the young people involved have realised the effect that their actions can have on people.
"We hope by working with the parents it will deter any future problems. They are aware of the consequences if they are found to be causing disruptive behaviour again."

“I would be mortified if the police came to tell me that my child had been involved in something like that and he wouldn't be able to sit down for some time afterwards. Thankfully he rarely goes out, unless his friend's parents pick him up to take him to their house and returns him home, he tends to stay in these days as it isn't even safe to go to local park any more.”

“Wafty - Most likely as soon as the police left the parents houses and the door was shut, they probably got a good hiding.”

“Or, wallpapad2, they do realise (or hop ethat is how they look) and think it gives them some sort of respect or credibility when all it does is make them look, pathetic, pitiful and incapable of taking a place in society.”

“Sounds horrendous. I think the point is that many young people just don't realise how intimidating they can be when they are in a gang and acting in a rowdy manner.”

“Police won't tolerate any form of anti-social behaviour - and so to address this issue, they spoke to the sc*m involved in front of their parents - well yippee-do, that should sort it out (not!)”
