Danny joins Forest on loan before window shuts
FORMER Derby County defender Danny Higginbotham joined Nottingham Forest on loan last night as the January transfer window closed.
Higginbotham moves to the Reds from Stoke City and could be in their squad for the Championship game against the Rams at Pride Park on Sunday.

Forest also brought in Manchester United defender Scott Wooton on loan.
Both Higginbotham and Wooton have joined until the end of the season.
They join a Forest side desperate for a win, after they fell to a sixth straight home defeat in the League last night, while again failing to find the back of the net, as Burnley won 2-0 at the City Ground.
Championship side West Ham United completed the signing of teenager Ravel Morrison from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.
The 18-year-old, considered to be one of the Red Devils’ finest academy products in recent years, has penned a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Hammers.
Morrison said: “I’m pleased to sign and looking forward to hopefully moving up to the Premier League with West Ham soon.
“I’m an attacking player and I’m hoping to get the fans on their feet.”
“I met with Sam Allardyce this morning and he welcomed me to the club.
“I also played with Robert Hall in the England team and I know him well so that will be really helpful to have someone here that I know.”
Morrison’s contract was due to expire in the summer and the teenager had been offered an extension by the Old Trafford outfit.
However, United were also willing to sell the player now rather than risk losing him to a fee that would be decided by a tribunal in the summer.
The youngster – who will be 19 on Thursday – has been mired in controversy throughout his fledgling career and there are some on the Red Devils staff who believe his huge potential will never be fulfilled.
A member of the triumphant FA Youth Cup-winning side last term, it was anticipated Morrison – rated as one of the best prospects to come through the United academy in recent years – would make a breakthrough this season.
Instead, was restricted to just two substitute appearances – both in the Carling Cup – and did not even manage a place on the bench throughout Sir Alex Ferguson’s massive injury problems.

“Do not let these florist posters fool you , theyre team is
like an injured mongrel at the moment and in a game as big as
this at theyre most dangerous ....rest assured , they will come
out fighting, kicking, scratching ...just like that mongrel..
Hoping to no doubt get a ram man sent off AGAIN.
But what the eck ,we beat em at the s###y ground with 10 men did we not,
and we would do it again.
Besides,if the snow comes as forecast we will be lucky to get it on.”

“Higgingbottom was a good player. Hopefully he won't be match fit and we can tear them red dogs apart on Sunday.”

“Forest had to spend otherwise they'd have been mutiny after the sale of Wes Morgan (which incidentally put £1.5 million into their kitty, so they will have been able to pay Higgs wages no problem).
Unlike Derby where our glorious owners refuse to invest in a transfer kitty and insist on the DCFC being virtually the only self-funding club in the football league.
If only I was borning into supporting a poxy club like Barnsley I'd be happy with that. But we're Derby (innit).”

“Now danny is a player who I personally would have loved to see come back to PP, he can play left back and also at centre back, and I'm sure after reading recent comments from the FA cup game would have loved to have come back.
It can't have been a money thing this as Florest don't have any !”
