A PETITION of more than 4,000 names against Derby City Council cutting its funding to a charity that helps train its staff to work with the mentally ill means that councillors must hold a debate on the matter.

Derbyshire Voice says the work it does would stop if the annual £16,500 it receives from the authority was stopped.

Its 4,211-name petition has triggered a debate on the proposal, which will be held at full council next Wednesday.
