Eric Schulz, president of civil large engines at Rolls-Royce, said: “We are proud to power the 100th A380, just as we powered the very first A380 to enter service just over five years ago and congratulate Airbus on reaching this milestone.
“We look forward to supporting A380 customers for decades to come.”
The Trent 900 is the engine of choice for the A380, having been selected by 11 out of 16 airlines.
The engine powered the A380 into service for the first time with Singapore Airlines in 2007 and is currently in service with six airlines.
Malaysia Airlines’ first A380 entered into service in July last year and the airline has ordered six A380 aircraft in total, all with Trent 900 engines.
