Derby County boss Nigel Clough happy with draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers
MANAGER Nigel Clough felt Saturday's goalless draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers was a good result for his Derby County side.
The Rams had to settle for a point against a Wolves side battling to pull away from the Championship relegation zone.

Clough was pleased with his patched-up defence, which featured full debutant Michael Hoganson and Kieron Freeman, while John Brayford continued to fill in at centre-back.
"It's a fair result against a Wolves side battling to stay in the division," said Clough.

"We don't have too many nil-nils here at Pride Park and in lots of ways it was a good one for us.
"Considering the back four we had out, we had four centre-halves missing and a first choice left-back out, so it's a brilliant clean sheet."
Wolves boss Dean Saunders added: "I thought we should have won but we didn't have that killer touch in front of goal.
"We made enough chances and got enough balls into the box and we were solid and defended well.
"We did all the basics properly and on another day, we win."

“ibelieveido and Clough have a lot in common, they talk a load of garbage.
ibelieveido lambasts everyone who dare speak out against Clough and the woeful Rams performances. Read his latest dire tribe he dishes up, he has more red arrows than Custer's Last Stand.
Clough by making statements ( excuses ) i.e. a good point, we should have won, injuries ( that all other teams have ) is Cloughs way of covering up his own inefficiencies as a manager and a coach so he self praises himself by these statements.
Clough said "Considering the back four we had out, we had four centre-halves missing and a first choice left-back out, so it's a brilliant clean sheet."
Well of the those 5 who were out, only 1 ( not Roberts ) could be considered to be a loss the others are average players. The replacements did as good as job as the so called 1st choice players.
Looks like Clough and GSE and given up on getting into the play offs as why would they announce season ticket increased prices for next season ? Because they know we wont and they dont want to, they are happy to plod along in the Championship.
Clough will make sure we dont go up, he calls it tactics.”

“We have to make allowances for most of the lame brain
posts on here beacause the schools are out.
Plus some of the Red Bogs who normally come on to crow
about how they are going to rule the world with the cash
the mega rich new owners have, ( yeah right ) have suddenly
realised how the fridge magnets have not a clue sooooooo,
they post on here under made up names to stir it.....
Apart from that it's the usual lets hate clough brigade who
are simply short on the old grey matter...simples.”

“Sorry, but Clough didn't say he was "happy with a draw" - he said "Considering the back four we had out, we had four centre-halves missing and a first choice left-back out, so it's a brilliant clean sheet".
Look at the table; we're 9th, still in with a shot at the play-offs, ahead of Florest, Dirty Leeds, Bolton, Wolves... the list goes on. There's no way Clough is happy with a draw - same as the rest of us, but he quite rightly acknowledges a clean sheet.
Poor journalism - is it any wonder fans turn on the manager when he's misquoted?”

“Derwentx - but we didn't score, he didn't take a chance of playing with wide people in proper positions, boro and Leeds, and got 3 points, we were playing the 4th from bottom team. Wake up. Your slipping into Cloughs points of the other teams have had luck and we haven't,
Hull were on a very bad run, they beat us and it is not a bad result, wolves are scrapping, sheff wed it was 2 fouls, Brighton were on a bad run, they beat us, too many excuses.
If it was down to character we would be top of the league, still laughing. Character may just be winning 2 games on the bounce!!! Or as Clough likes to say we don't lose two on the bounce.”

“NC overall hasn`t done too bad of a job,you just wonder though whether it will take him 10 years to get us to the promised land,or how about 10 wins on the spin, now that would be an achievement,he has had 4 years, done lots of good cost cutting and recruited some decent young players and nurtured some through the academy but we are where we were four years ago, still in debt and similar league position mnore or less, the only way he is going to move us forward is recognise his tactical short comings and learn to pick up the correct players when available if he is allowed ,ie, YES wilko10,Gorkss would have done us just champion.
To comment on the defence, well the two young full backs may have done well, however young they are they will have to get adapting as it appears they may be the ones for us next season, lets not hide here,NC says we had four centre halves missing, well if `o`conner is a centre half then so am i and i`m 51,Bucko is a usefull squad member, not good enough in my opinion to be a regular, who knows what Barks will be like on his return,we may be looking for two CBs,Obrien still learning ,good player though.
Bolton at home, maybe a point, get to 50 points will be the aim,i hoped for 74 points.S.S.A TOYOTA POPSIDE”

“How an earth can the quotes above sound like 'the words of a desperate man on his way out'? Justify that if you can, its drivel, and it sounds like the words of a man desperate to moan for the sake of it!
The sum total of what he said amounts to a couple of paragraphs in which he pointed out that we did well to keep a clean sheet with four centre halves and the first choice left back missing, which is a fact. With a right back at centre half and two young lads at fullback we did very well to stop them scoring, and it deserves some praise for the young guys who filled in so effectively, not unjustified scorn poured on the manager and the club just for the sake of it.
Surely if we want an effective policy of bringing on young players we have to give them a chance before we resort to bringing in 31 year olds on loan. Try to look beyond this season and give the young guys a bit of support and praise, we need to see how these lads can handle the pressure and I wouldn't hesitate to start with the same side again on Tuesday.”

“Sounds like the words of a desperate man who is on his way out. It is sad but this should have stopped years ago to save increased embarrassment and years of nothingness. WAKE UP GSE and sell up. Who makes the decisions at GSE? Is it by a general consensus of dispersed investors who vote on issues if they can be bothered?”
