INTEREST is likely to be re-ignited in Derby County players Chris Maguire and Miles Addison once the window for emergency loans opens next week.

Rams manager Nigel Clough says he expects clubs to return for the pair.

Maguire, a summer signing from Aberdeen, is currently out of the first-team picture.

The 23-year-old striker's last appearance in the first team was in the defeat by Hull City in November.

Addison, also 23, has returned from Barnsley, where he was on loan in the first half of the season.

"We have good options in those positions and providing we get no more injuries, we need the lads to get out and play some football," said Clough.

"There was interest in Chris Maguire in the January window and once the window opens again there is a chance of him going out and getting some football between now and the end of the season."

Clubs could also be tempted to ask about taking Paul Green on loan.

The midfielder is out of contract in the summer and there was interest in the 28-year-old during last month but the Rams received no offers.

Clough said: "We expected some offers in January and didn't get any, so you are never quite sure.

"It was not a case of turning down bids. There was interest but no firm offers. We were surprised by that.

"You look down the road (at Nottingham Forest) and Wes Morgan, who was out of contract at the end of the season has gone to Leicester for £1m, so you would think an international player with a few months left on his contract would have attracted more interest."

Green signed for Derby in 2008 and there is no new deal on the table.

"We have not offered him a contract, specifically," said Clough. "We had a chat when he got injured last year. We asked if he wanted to sit down and talk about one and his representative at the time said 'no'.

"So, as far as we are concerned the situation has not changed. They haven't come back and said anything to the contrary."

Green is expected to return to the squad for Sunday's game against Nottingham Forest.

“Ibelieveido have to agree ,I usually switch on when I get into my car and its terrible. If we have won by four we should have five anything negative is said.We could win by ten but if their pie was a bit cold, well Nigel sort that out!!

“Radio Derby's commentary is a joke.

a certain commentator lives up to his name and makes far too many mistakes.

On his twitter page he makes light of getting the sack from a burger joint
and states he has not done bad to say ay,all i can say is the standards at
the job he is in now must be set pretty low.

he misses half the action due to claptrap gossip and simply does not know the
rules governing the game of football, all in all...pathetic..”

“im a big Miles lover ,he hasn`t got his pace back after his foot problem but given time he surely would ??,as said by TheOakwoodRam, MILES has to be better than Buxton,it must be his wages.
i am being presumptious and am forecasting that we are going to lose greeny, miles and maguire,i would release ben davies and conor doyle,im just reiterating what adamdcfc says about deadwood but is only doyle and davies i would be talking about, all the other deadwood players have now gone ,greeny and miles i would love to keep, looking further down the line then pre season next year there should be some money to juggle with ??.SSA TOYOTA POPSIDE.”

“I find it disappointing that we are looking to loan out Addison when we have Buxton on the bench instead, surely he's a better option than Bucko?! I thought the first half at Barnsley was crying out for an Addison type player to get his foot in and break things up. The only thing I can think is they want rid of him because his wages are too high, otherwise why would we look to get rid of a player who can play at this level and has come through the youth system? That said as others have mentioned managers do sometimes make odd decisions and overall at the moment we seem to be in a better position than we have been for some seasons.”

“lets be honest managers sign players on the bases that what they've seen of that player is good and is something that would help there team grow, to slate clough for signing maguire is ridiculous managers sign players and sometimes it doesn't work out. Alex Ferguson supposedly the best manager in English football has signed players that haven't worked out, it happens that's football.

clough has signed plenty of players that have worked out like England's probably 4th choice keeper, Jamie ward and our top goalscorer theo Robinson all for under 1 million hardly bad judgement, shackall and barker 2 million for two of the best center backs in the championship, two lads from crew for 1million 1 being one of the best right backs in the championship the other being a decent center mid. some decisions clough makes forces a scratch of the head but hes the manager hes building the club on stability getting rid of the deadwood, the high earners and the tall ego's whilst bringing through some promising youth players.

I cant think for one second that if clough had the money to offer green or commons that he wouldn't have offered it way before any of them got a sniff of a club higher up the league pyramid.”

“Gordonskitbag - That's very disrespectful to the Radio Derby sports team, who do a superb job of covering the Rams! Knowing a few of them, I can assure you that they know a lot of damning things about the club and management which they are not allowed to broadcast. They are extremely well informed as to potential comings and goings as well.”

“It seems to me that Maguire has never been given a chance to prove himself at Derby {for whatever reason}. Green gives us a bit of energy and I would rather have Addison as cover @ centre half than Buxton. Given the amount of players that have been shipped out over the January transfer window {on the whole justifiably} surely now is the time to keep everyome else until the end of the season.”

“Careful Paul72. While much of what you say is valid ibelieveido was making one point and one point only, which is that NC has repeatedly said he wants Green to stay. I am sure NC is sincere in this regard and the fact that he has made it clear Green is back in squad for Sunday and the rest of the season supports this. There is of course a difference between wanting him to stay and being able to get him to stay given the finacial constraints to which NC is subject. It is the second of these that has given the impression NC wants him to go, but I believe (I do) this merely reflects realism rather than desire - a view that is again supported by the comments which form the basis of wussa-ram's post.

The point I was trying to make - not very well I concede - in my original post, is that this article smacks of irresponsible journalism with unfounded speculation (about Green going out on emergency loans) being wrapped up in more credible and supportable story lines (re Addison and Maguire). In particular - and I'm only partially joking here - it worries me that the so-called "football reporters" at BBC Radio Derby will get hold of this and start to report it as "fact". Just like they did with the impending departure of James Bailey, the likelihood that Green would be going to a PL club and probably the irrefutable proof that there are fairies living at the bottom of Colin Gibson's garden!
