FORMER Derby County striker Mark Lillis will take charge of Huddersfield Town for a second game tomorrow night and he could be in the dugout when the Terriers take on the Rams at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday.

Lillis, the club's Academy manager, is currently filling the role of caretaker manager following the sacking of Simon Grayson last week.

He took the side in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Leicester City in the FA Cup and will do so again when Crystal Palace visit the John Smith's Stadium in the League.

Huddersfield chairman Dean Hoyle has said there has been no shortage of interest in the vacancy but he is in no rush to appoint the club's fourth manager in as many years.

Lillis, 53, is a former Huddersfield player.

He said: "The players were frustrated and disappointed not to have won against Leicester but we gave one of the best teams in the Championship a game.

"I gave them (the players) some loving because sometimes they need an arm around them and to be given some self-belief.

"But I also told them that we have a chairman who is putting his money where his mouth is and fans who are paying hard-earned cash to come and watch.

"When that's the case, you have to give something back. That's the way I was brought up."

Lillis took training yesterday while Huddersfield played Derby in an under-21 fixture on the next pitch.
