“Reckon Clough is wanting to look at him in that month and if he likes what he sees then pursue him in the summer in a more permanent capacity. Being here for just the month, Martin will be expected quite a few minutes on the pitch.
I was always impressed with him when he was playing regularly at Norwich - hope he's not one of these who's never the same after injury”

“He has now joined us, initially for one month. No doubt if he looks the part we can extend it further.”

“Why didn't we try to sell Theo in January? It was pretty obvious that he wasn't getting a look in, and maybe had some value given the goals he has scored this season.”

“Agree with you completely Mick73, my main concern is that we will now only have 3 recognised strikers, one of them being injury prone and another being a young lad with little experience. If we do get Martin we will have to see how he does, but reports so far have suggested he will only be with us for a month.... therefore we don't have many options going forward after that month. Just not sure what clough and the board are thinking because we already have a small squad and we should therefore be attempting to keep all of our players happy and at the club, for the time being that is.”

“Lots of comments on the other thread about goals per game ratio and Martin being no better than Robinson. Others having a go at the manager for not giving him a fair run in the side and pointing out he was scoring for us. For me though, it was not about the few he did score, it was about the host of easy chances/one-on-ones he missed. Our midfield have proven this season (last couple of performances aside) that they can create as many chances as the top sides. Had Theo snaffled even half of these opportunities he has missed then we would have more goals and consequently more points.

I think Clough is right to move him on. During his time here he hasn't developed his touch or awareness therefore perhaps he has reached his ceiling in terms of his own development. No harm in having a good luck at Martin, who with our creative midfield might start to up that ratio and prove Clough right.

Only time will tell, but lets not judge Martin before he has kicked a ball. Lets have a good look and make a decision then.”

“Thanks Theo...good luck for the future. Seems Theo couldn't quite step up to the breach.”
