Derby childminder appears in annual Ofsted report

Tamsine Ashforth was given "outstanding" in the report by Ofsted inspectors after they visited her Alvaston home earlier this year.

LOVES THE JOB: Childminder Tamsine Ashforth, who features in the annual Ofsted report, at work with Ben Giles, aged one.
She is one of 10 childminders, 28 schools, five childcare providers and three children's homes from Derbyshire to appear in the latest annual report published by Ofsted today.
The report lists all organisations which have received outstanding reports during 2008/09, some of them on more than one occasion during the past 14 years.
Miss Ashforth, 38, of Booth Street, who is a qualified nursery nurse and mother of three, decided to become a childminder so that she could work from home to be with her youngest child, who is autistic.
"It took a while to be registered and when I had my first inspection it came out as 'satisfactory'," said Miss Ashforth.
"I have really grown to love the job and have extended my home to include a playroom so that children are able to play and learn at the same time.
"It's always quite sad when children leave, and I must have minded more than 20 since I started. Being judged 'outstanding' was the icing on the cake for me."
Among the schools featured in the report is Ecclesbourne School, in Duffield, which received its fourth "outstanding" grade in a row in October 2008 – and is believed to be one of the first in the country to do so.
Morley Primary School appears in the annual report again after being judged "outstanding" three times.
Head teacher Kate Marsland said: "We believe that our success is based on strong teamwork from all staff, governors, pupils and parents. They are justifiably very proud, and they all work incredibly hard."
Chellaston School, in Swarkestone Road, appears in the report after achieving "outstanding" for a second time.
Head teacher Ray Ruszczynski said: "Success is achieved by everybody pulling in the same direction."
