“So what exactly is Madbadger rambling on about?
Bill Longmore, elected as an independent Police and Crimes Commissioner for Mercia, he appoints a deputy, Barrie Sheldon, whom he once knew some 28 years previous to appointing him, but is facing allegations that Mr. Sheldon is a personal fruend. He made the appointment because the man had all the qualifications required fir the job, the process was lawful despite political members of a panel were in disagreement over the process.
Whether or not Mr. Longmore is a politician is totally irrelevant, had he been so, it would not have changed the situation.

Alan Charles on the other hand, regardless of whether or not he is, was or would be a politician, appointed a person who was elected to chair the panel responsible for monitoring the Police and Crime Commisioner. This is a councillor who has powers over decisions made by the Police and Crimes Commissioner who sat on the panel that approved his own appointment for a £56,000 a year job.
Alan Charles is now in the process of recruiting and appointing a chief executive and a finance director, it will be interesting to see what, if any, political associations the appointed people have.”

“The Derbyshire PCC having recruited a Deputy already at £56,000-a-year.

Is now after a Chief Executive and Monitoring Officer. Salary £70,000 - £75,000 p.a.

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Derbyshire is seeking to recruit a Chief Executive, to ensure delivery of his vision, strategy and identified priorities for policing in Derbyshire.

“If the PCC required an Assistant PCC. It would have been very wise and justified to choose any one of the other 3 candidates who stood for the PCC role.

The PCC's true colours have been shown with this appointment.

That colour would be light with a Wavelength of ~620–740nm.”

All a bit like Laurel & Hardy, althought that would be an insult to two great entertainers. Perhaps more like the Chuckle Brothers...”

“So we have a commissioner with form for handbag mugging and now a deputy involved with dubious vote rigging and a son done for drug taking (all reported in the DET over the years). Greed you say? Aye I think you are right”

“The Derbyshire Police Establishment are a laughing stock.

All under the command of the Poor Chief. Who really does not like to be embarrassed.

Goodness forbid he ever Googles the words "Derbyshire Police Shambles" or even "Derbyshire Police Tribunal"

I have serious reservations that he could even conduct a search in a Google Box.

I feel sorry for the Officers on the frontline. Getting stuffed by their superiors and the people that now control them.

    6 years in the job.

Has anybody actually ever seen him in reality?

Wonder if he has ever visited Normanton?

    Try Google Maps....oh wait...maybe not.”

“Everybody knew this would be the case the day Alan Charles was appointed, the rest was all about going through the motions of a recruitment process and an interview panel to make this seem like a transparent process.. So much for keeping politics out of the PCC roles!”
