Derbyshire CCC resources wearing thin against Notts in Barbados
DERBYSHIRE'S bowling resources were stretched further against Nottinghamshire at North Stars today.
In the final two days of competitive action in their pre-season tour to Barbados, Notts reached tea on 254-5 after 69 overs but Derbyshire were running out of bowlers through another bout of niggles.

Having decided Tim Groenewald and Tony Palladino would not bowl again after their new ball spell, Mark Turner (back), Wes Durston (knee) and Ross Whiteley (thigh) were also withdrawn after pulling up when bowling, though none of the injuries are considered serious.
Alex Hales was the first batsman to fall, during a fine opening spell from Groenewald, when he nicked a catch through to wicketkeeper Richard Johnson for 11 at 22-1.

In his first over of the day, Ally Evans had Riki Wessels caught at gully by Billy Godleman for 21 to make it 34-2 and then Michael Lumb (18) looped a gentle catch to Matt Higginbottom at extra cover off Durston at 96-3.
James Taylor started to hit a nice rhythm leading up to lunch but he was out in the fifth over after the resumption for 43, top-edging a hook at Higginbottom to David Wainwright at long leg.
That was 221-5 but Chris Read began to push up the scoring rate. Having charged down the wicket to hit Wainwright for his first six over long off, he tried to do the same again and sliced a catch to Evans at backward point.
There were also 10 fours in his 73, made off 86 balls.
Steven Mullaney (57 not out) and Paul Franks (14 not out) saw Notts through to tea.
