DERBYSHIRE may soon have a first full international to emerge from their academy.

Danielle Wyatt, recruited to the county cricket club's programme in 2008 after emerging through the mini-academy in Staffordshire, has been called up for England Women's tour to India next year.

The 18-year-old, primarily an off-spinner but also a very good fielder and useful bat, has been named for her first full tour to replace Holly Colvin, who has academic commitments.

England, World Cup winners in both limited-overs disciplines, are to play five one-day internationals and three Twenty20s against the Indians between February 15 and March 9.

Wyatt, who has already represented the England Academy and is part of the national Performance Programme, is due to report back to the County Ground in the new year but is to join the MCC ground staff at Lord's in April.

"She has worked hard while she has been with us and I'm delighted she has been given this chance," said Derbyshire academy director Karl Krikken.

Since the academy was established in 2003, four Derbyshire graduates have progressed to play for England Under-19s – Dan Redfern, Jake Needham, Tom Poynton and Atif Sheikh – and all now have full-time professional contracts with the county.
