A DERBYSHIRE gambler could win more than £14,000 if it is snows on Christmas day.

Forecasts of snow have prompted a flurry of punters to place bets on it being a white Christmas.

Bookmaker William Hill said it would have to pay out millions of pounds if there is a blanket of snow across the country on December 25.

And revealed that a punter from Derbyshire stands to collect more than £14,000 if their bet pays off.

William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said: "The million pound snow flake is something that we have always talked about in hushed tones and for the first time this millennium it looks like we could get collared.

"There is unlikely to be much festive cheer in our office this year."
