Derbyshire pub set to rise again with £200,000 investment
A DERBYSHIRE pub is set to close next month for two weeks to allow a £200,000 refurbishment to take place.
The Rising Sun, in Rise End, at Middleton, near Wirksworth, is being revamped after being taken over by licensees Stephen Merrick and Laura Clarke.
The work will begin on Monday and will take six weeks to complete.
The pub will remain opened until April 15 when it will close for two weeks to allow the final stages of the refurbishment to be carried out.
The revamp is being jointly funded by the licensees and the pub’s owner, Burton-based pub company Punch Taverns.
It will be given a new decor and the kitchen will be moved upstairs to make room for more diners.
The pub will also be opening its own pie shop, selling pies baked on-site.
Mr Merrick said: “The plans look fantastic. We look forward to seeing the end result.”
