Essex needed only 52 minutes of the fourth day to wrap up

a victory over Derbyshire in their LV County Championship match

at Chelmsford.

Derbyshire were bowled out for 226 to lose by 145 runs in an

anticlimactic end to a fine contest.

Resuming at 188-5, they lost Greg Smith in the seventh over of

the day when he was bowled by Ryan ten Doeschate off the inside

edge for 11.

The end came quickly after that, with night watchman Jake

Needham caught behind off Danish Kaneria for one, Jamie Pipe

falling into a trap at deep square leg for six, Graham Wagg

caught behind to complete a pair and Charl Langeveldt run out

for 12.
