Detectives still trying to identify woman found in Butterley Reservoir

Detectives are trying to identify the body of a woman who was found in Butterley Reservoir.

Police were alerted by a dog walker at 7.45am yesterday to a body in the open water of the reservoir which is next to Butterley Railway Station, Butterley Hill.

The woman was in her mid 30s to early 40s, white, of large build, approximately 5ft 6ins tall with short to mid-length dark brown hair which was wavy.

She was wearing a dark red, long sleeved fleece jacket which fastened with buttons with a white T-shirt underneath, dark grey tracksuit bottoms which had two dark stripes down the outside of the leg, black crocodile or snake skin shiny slip-on shoes which had a small heal and a gold coloured fastening.

Detective Sgt Steve Roberts from Amber Valley CID said: “We would like anyone to contact us that may have a family friend or relative that fits this description who may not have been seen for a few days.

“Also, if anyone saw this woman around the Ripley or Swanwick area over the weekend to contact us.”
