BOSSES at the new TJ Hughes store in Derby have said that shoppers love it.

The shop, which took over the former Woolworths building in Westfield in September, is the first TJ Hughes store to open in the city.

Chris McKeown, sales director, said: "Derby is our 51st store opening in the UK and we have been really pleased with its success.

"We were inundated with customers on the opening day and even had people queuing from 8.30am – and this enthusiasm has continued."

Although no footfall figures were available, Mr McKeown said that the shop, which sells textiles, beauty products, electrical goods, toys, menswear and lingerie, had been a worthwhile venture.

He said: "We have invested more than £1m in the refit and this has clearly proven worthwhile."
