SEVEN brave men jumped out of a plane at 13,000 ft to raise money for a Belper youth centre.

The team from the Drop Inn raised £700 by taking part in the stunt.

Barry Lewis, Derbyshire County Council cabinet member for young people, visited the team – comprising Ant Winson, Ant Baker, Billy Alton-Wood, David Mellor, Ben Gregory, Tom Stone and Adrian Stone – the night before the skydive to wish them good luck.

Drop Inn founder Andrea Fox said she was proud of the fund-raisers, who flew to Hinton Airfield, in Northamptonshire, for the stunt.

She said: "I was so relieved when I received the phone call to say they were all safely on the ground and had all completed the jump.

"I am so proud of them all, it's not something I could ever do.

"When the team left in the morning they were all so nervous – when they came back they were buzzing with the experience."

A display about the skydiving experience and DVD footage of it was shown at a coffee morning held at the youth centre.

Anyone who would like to make a donation can do so until the end of April by calling in at the centre, in Derwent Street, Belper.

Alternatively, donations can be made by calling 07960 576257.

The club was set up 10 years ago and is used as somewhere for young people around Belper to go. It also puts on "safe rave" events, an initiative which has won national awards.
