LUKE Campbell's mother has called for an end to the violence that robbed her of her "beautiful boy".

And Hazel Hayes branded his killers as "evil cowards".

Ms Hayes, who lives in Derby, said Luke's death had caused her "utter devastation".

She said: "Add to that a set of circumstances where that loss is due to murder and it's beyond anything that most people have to ever go through in a lifetime.

"As a society we need to start looking after and looking out for each other in order to stop this violence.

"We need to support those who campaign against violence – don't turn away from them believing it's nothing to do with you.

"Violence in our society affects everyone, as I have found out."

Ms Hayes said she drew little comfort from the conviction of her son's murderers.

She said: "The three boys did something horrendously evil and have been punished – but my son is still not here.

"My beautiful boy was murdered in a cowardly and brutal fashion.

"I have to live with the fact that my son died for absolutely no reason."
