Earnshaw says yellow card was worth it as he savours hitting winning goal
NOTTINGHAM Forest match-winner Robert Earnshaw was happy to take a yellow card in return for his extended goal celebration against former club Derby County.
Earnshaw came off the bench and made a decisive impact, netting in the 79th minute to give Forest a 1-0 victory – and their first ever win at Pride Park Stadium.
The Wales international, who became Derby's record signing when he joined the club for £3.5m in the summer of 2007, made the most of the moment – much to the annoyance of the home fans – and his prolonged celebration prompted a yellow card from referee Graham Salisbury.
"I was going to celebrate that moment and I was willing to take a yellow card for it," said Earnshaw, who also scored twice in Forest's 5-2 win over Derby at the City Ground last month.
"I knew I was going to get booked so I thought I may as well celebrate for a bit longer.
"I caught it really nicely and, because the ball was running away from goal, it went away from the keeper.
"I hit a few of those in training during the week and I was feeling good.
"It was a great feeling to see it go in."
Earnshaw added: "We were very confident that whatever they threw at us, we were going to handle it.
"It was a great team performance and the defence played really well, which gave us a chance to get a 1-0 win.
"To beat Derby twice and win and become the first Forest team to win at Pride Park is a great achievement."
Another former Derby player, Forest goalkeeper Lee Camp, also incurred the wrath of the home fans for his celebrations at the final whistle.
"I celebrate like that most weeks," said Camp.
"I wear my heart on my sleeve and I enjoy winning games of football.
"Obviously, I come in for a bit of stick when I come back to Derby – I've become a bit of a pantomime villain – so it's nice to win against them.
"People are entitled to their opinion.
"You put yourself in the firing line to be shot at but I'm very comfortable with the way I conducted myself."

“Whatever your thoughts on returning playeres, Lee Camp was born here, his family is from here, and he was a season ticket holder, so to do what he does (including applauding when they sing Lee Camp is a Forest fan) is deplorable”
