Eclectic folk hoping to soar to success
THREE-piece folk rock band Sparrow and the Workshop are heading to Derby next month.
Hailing from Glasgow, the American/Scottish/Welsh trio play a stripped-down drumkit, a crashbox, a white bass, a small acoustic guitar, a yellow electric slide guitar and occasionally an old French violin. They describe their music as being tinged with elements of country and folk, and say their sound ranges from "punky and harsh to sparse and sensitive".
Their single, Devil Song, was released on vinyl in May and a new EP release is due this autumn.
See them at the Rockhouse on October 9. Call 01332 209236.
