Electrical store is not taken on by nursery retailer
A FORMER electrical store in Derby is not among a group of outlets that have been taken on by a baby and nursery retailer.
On Thursday, Kiddicare.com said it had taken on the lease of 10 out of 11 former Best Buy stores from Carphone Warehouse.
Its Derby outlet, at Kingsway retail park, is the only store that Kiddicare has not taken on.
Best Buy's Derby store shut earlier this month with the loss of around 100 jobs.
It was first announced that the Best Buy store could close in November, when Carphone Warehouse confirmed it was looking to pull the plug on all 11 of its Best Buy shops.
Carphone Warehouse decided to shut the stores in order to focus on selling more electronics goods through its own outlets.
The company said consumer electronics had suffered as a result of the economic downturn, online competition and the growth of new products.
A spokeswoman for Carphone Warehouse said: "We are in conversations with other interested parties on the lease of our Derby store."
