ILKESTON brought their recent run of poor form to an end with a battling victory over Leighton Buzzard at Wrights Meadow.

It was a pulsating encounter, in which 10 tries were scored – five to each side – and the difference between the sides proved to be two Jono Falls conversions.

The hosts had moved into a 10-0 lead before the Elks opened their account, Greg Taylor setting up brother Lewis for a converted try.

Leighton scored again, though, to go 15-7 up at the interval.

Ilkeston turned things around after the break, as Lewis Taylor bagged his second try before Falls landed a touchline conversion after Tom McKelvey had crashed over in the corner.

Elliott Gwynne was next to touch down and although the hosts kept fighting back, Greg Taylor's scored ensured they remained in front.
