Ex-council chairman appears in court
A FORMER chairman of Derbyshire County Council is set to stand trial early next year over charges of theft from the authority.
Robin Baldry has yet to enter a plea as prosecution lawyers are still carrying out "complex" investigations.
But a judge said yesterday he was anticipating a trial in January, indicating Baldry would plead not guilty when an indictment is finally put to him.
Baldry, of Terrace Road, Buxton, was at yesterday's case management hearing at Derby Crown Court, where his unconditional bail was renewed. He will next appear on December 6.
