Experiments on animals can't end soon enough
I HAVE supported "humane research" charities for many years.
I feel that animal experiments should be replaced by other methods as soon as possible. I am appalled by some of the things which are done to animals in the name of medical science. But I do realise this is a very difficult and emotive subject as, when people are ill, they will inevitably look to the medical profession for help.
I support the Dr Hadwen Trust (telephone 0146 243 6819) and the Humane Research Trust (0161 4398 041). They sponsor projects which involve alternatives to animal experiments. I realise there aren't alternatives to all experiments but I pray that one day there will be, then it will not be necessary for animals to suffer in laboratories.

“Testing for cosmetics or "non medical" products should be stopped immeditely.
There are some procedures and medicines that still require a living being to test the effects/effectiveness of treatments, an unfortunately these tests are not even considered as 100% accurate!
Things are moving on and with advances in Stem Cell research/"Genetic Engineering" and the generation of cells that react in exactly the same way as human tissues and organs, will eventually make animal experiments completely obsolete, the sooner the better!.
The only factor to settle is the questions raised about the "ethics" of the research and the opening of doors that will allow good sound and ethically acceptable use of new break-throughs in genetic engineering.”
