Fascinating diaries added to archive
THE First World War diaries of a Buxton soldier and a school visit by a former England cricketer are new additions to the county's archives.
The items are among more than 195 series of archives acquired by the county record office in Matlock in the past year.
Materials accepted include: the First World War diaries of Sergeant James Lomas Barrat, of Buxton, 1915- 1916; a photograph of a visit to St James Infant and Junior schools by cricketer Devon Malcolm in 1995; and the Peak Forest parish book including constable's duties and expenses, 1774- 1822.
