Filming of hit show Starlings migrates to Derby's Westfield
Visitors to Derby were surprised to discover scenes for television sitcom Starlings being filmed in the Westfield centre.
They found that parts of the centre were closed off to allow filming for the show's second series took place.
The first series of Starlings, which is set in Matlock, was broadcast on Sky 1 in May and because of its popularity has been commissioned for a second run. Yesterday, the cast and crew members were in the food court area of Derby's Westfield shopping centre shooting scenes.
Among the stars present were Brendan Coyle, who is famous for playing valet John Bates in ITV's smash hit period drama Downton Abbey, and Lesley Sharp, who has had roles in films such as the Full Monty and Vera Drake.

The series is being made by Baby Cow Productions, which is co-owned by comedian Steve Coogan, famed for his alter ego Alan Partridge.
The show follows the lives of the Starling family – a typical working-class family who live and work in Matlock.
During the filming of the first series, the cast and crew were frequently seen around the town.
Shooting for the first series started in August last year when locals spotted television trucks rolling into the town to start shooting.
They spent a day at Matlock Town FC's home ground, Causeway Lane.
The club's chairman and many of the players were used in the scenes, which told the story of the family's daughter, who plays for Matlock Town's girls' team.
A date for the second series to air has not been revealed.
