Fine food served up at Spotted Cow
IF you are looking for a very traditional English country pub, serving hearty, homemade, quality food, then you can't go too far wrong with the Spotted Cow at Holbrook. Originally built in the 1600s as a small farmhouse, it was converted into an alehouse in 1820 and has provided a cosy hub for the local community ever since.
The best of British pub food is the inspiration for the menu at the Spotted Cow, which was a finalist in the 2012 Derbyshire Food Awards and the Best British Roast Dinner 2012 awards.
A delicious carvery is available most days, along with real ales and a regularly changing specials menu.
Tomorrow evening, for example, the Spotted Cow will host an Irish night which will include free live entertainment from Irish comedienne and singer songwriter Sheila M. A variety of delicious Irish-themed food will also be available all evening. This will include starters of leek and potato soup with smoked salmon or chicken wings with Guinness. Mains course will feature chicken breast with whiskey and oregano marmalade; flambee pepper steak with whiskey cream or beef and Guinness pie, followed by a choice of Bailey's Irish Cream creme brulee or baby Guinness chocolate pots

In February the pub will also be laying on a special Valentine's Day meal which can be enjoyed with options of a three course menu for £19.95, or two courses for £15.95.
