Firefighters holding free electric blanket testing for over-60s
FIREFIGHTERS are holding free electric blanket testing sessions for the over-60s.
Derbyshire County Council Adult Care and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service has been awarded funding by the Department of Health to carry out portable appliance testing of electric blankets.
Any blankets that fail the test will be disposed of by firefighters.
But the funding will also be used to provide a fleece topper to people whose blankets fail the important safety test. These will be issued on a first-come first-served basis to anybody aged over 60 or registered disabled.
