Flippin' good fun at Swadlincote pancake race
STANDING on the start line, frying pan in hand, I waited for the horn, writes reporter Sophie Evans.
And then I was off – racing round the track, taking on the Swadlincote Pancake race for myself.

I was one of the 192 people who took part in the third annual pancake race in The Delph. Pupils from Belmont Primary School, mascots and local businesses all joined in the race, wanting to be crowned winner. Stuart Batchelor, who is aiming to take part in 50 sports in his 50th year, has crossed number 12 off the list with pancake racing. He said: "It's one of the quickest one I've done, sandwiched between tobogganing and netball."
Sainsbury's, which donated all the equipment for the event, entered three teams, with the Swadlincote store taking first place. Jen Chell was one of the runners for Sainsbury's.
