Focus on dignity for those people in care
SMILING 83-year-old Anne Ordish was the centre of attention at her care home when a host of events for elderly people were held across Derbyshire.
Yesterday was national Dignity Action Day, which promoted treating people living in care with dignity by giving them choices and control over their daily lives and staging activities for them.

Care home resident Anne Ordish is pictured here at a pampering session at Spencer Grove Care Home, in Belper, which was run by staff members, from left, Kelly James, Kara Gratton, Debbie Lee, Donna Annable and Samantha De Boltz.
A number of the county's community hospitals ran events and among them was Belper's Babington Hospital, where patients watched a film with popcorn and ice-cream.
There were also manicures for patients at Ilkeston Community Hospital, organised by the Red Cross, while at Heanor Memorial Hospital there was a tea dance.
Activities across Derby ranged from the release of 40 balloons at Bramblebrook House, in Mickleover, to a "seated" dance class at Whitaker Road Day Centre, in Littleover.
