A FOOTBALL Club in Alvaston, which has 16 teams but only two changing rooms, is drawing up plans to expand its base.

Field Lane FC has teams ranging from under-sevens to senior level who share four pitches at Field Lane Park, Alvaston.

Secretary Daniel Hawksworth admitted the club was struggling to house all the players and that more changing rooms are being planned.

He said about £250,000 would be needed and that an application for lottery funding, plus a Football Foundation grant, was in the pipeline.

If funding and planning permission is secured, Mr Hawksworth said he hoped the new changing rooms would be in place by 2012-3.

A storage place for training equipment is also needed, he said.

The four pitches were created last year after a £70,000 Government grant helped turn what had been a run-down eyesore into a floodlit area.

Basketball and netball courts were also built.

Local councillor Ranjit Banwait said he plans to work with the club to turn its plans into reality.
