Football: Three more pledge future to Gresley
GRESLEY FC boss Gary Norton has signed up three more players from last season for the new East Midlands Counties League campaign
Defensive trio Chris Mawbey, James Davies and Nathan Rolph have all agreed to stay at the Moat Ground, despite the club formerly known as Gresley Rovers dropping out of the UniBond League and going into liquidation.
Davies signed in February from Tamworth and played in every game until the end of the 2008-9 season.
Mawbey was the first graduate from the club's junior set-up, he rejoined them in November last year, while Rolph stepped up to the first team after impressing in the youth team and reserves.
They join the likes of Carl Slater and Jamie Barrett in committing their futures to Gresley.
"I have been pleased with the response from the players," said Norton (pictured below).
"A lot of them could easily have stayed in the UniBond and picked up decent money, so I'm delighted they have decided to stay.
"It gives us a good base to build on."
Norton is also hoping to persuade midfielder Mickey Lyons to return to Gresley.
Lyons played in the EMC last season with Borrowash Victoria.
