Needham gets six to foil Foxes
Jake Needham claimed the best bowling figures of his career as Derbyshire conceded a first innings lead of 14 on the second day of their LV County Championship match against Leicestershire.
The off-spinner took 6-49 as Leicestershire were bowled out for 208 and, in the 43 overs remaining before the close, Derbyshire edged back into the black at 85-0, with Steve Stubbings 43 not out and Paul Borrington 34 not out.
Leicestershire had added only nine to their overnight total when Boeta Dippenaar was lbw to Graham Wagg for 10 and HD Ackerman was bowled leg stump second ball to make it 40-3.
Greg Smith and Josh Cobb put on 44 before Cobb was caught behind for 21 off the bottom edge trying to cut Needham away.
Smith and Paul Nixon put on 68 for the fifth wicket but Smith was bowled sweeping at Needham for 54 and Nixon top-edged a sweep to square leg for 46 to give Needham a third wicket.
James Allenby was lbw to Wayne White and Needham wrapped up the tail as Leicestershire lost their last five wickets for 33 runs.
