A MUCH-IMPROVED defensive display saw Gresley return to winning ways against Northwich Victoria in the Evo-Stik Division One South last night.

The Moatmen went ahead in the 17th minute when Rob Spencer headed home at the far post.

Central defender Marc Strzyzewski increased the lead when he outjumped the visitors' defence to convert Danny Holmes' cross.

The visitors reduced the arrears when Ricky Mellon scored with a scorching 25-yard drive into the top corner.
