JOEY Griffin was glad they broke the ice at Rycroft Fisheries.

The cold snap did not prevent 11 anglers from competing in the Saturday open, with Griffin taking full advantage.

Griffin netted 20lb 4oz on the Moat Lake at the Hemington venue to finish ahead of Chris Bonsil, who wasn't far behind after banking 19lb 14oz.

Chris Pavlou was third with 11lb 7oz.
