Group aims to restore pavilion
A NEW group has been founded to restore a historic pavilion in Matlock to its former glory as a successful concert venue.
Members of the Matlock Bath Pavilion Group met in the town last night to discuss a constitution and the official election of officers.
It is asking Derbyshire Dales District Council to let it come up with a detailed business plan for the Grand Pavilion.
The venue has been shut for more than a year after The Pav nightclub closed.
The council is asking people for views on what should be done with the 100-year-old pavilion.
The group has formed six separate committees, each consisting of 38 members, looking into different aspects of how to convert the pavilion to an arts and sports space.
It says the pavilion can be used as an events, performance and media centre and could stage theatre, music and arts events, as well as offering wider community use.
