Growing interest in UKIP leads to move
THE UK Independence Party's Derby branch says it has had to move its group meetings to a larger venue because of growing attendances.
It has switched from The Lawns, Chellaston, to the Bridge Inn, Shelton Lock.
UKIP's Derby branch formed in mid-2011 and spokesman David Gale said its membership in the city had increased from "17 to more than 60" during that time.
He said: "We now get a couple of dozen people attending our branch meetings coming from all quarters of society in Derby."

“RobF11 "How can you say that UKIP is the only political party to object to this, when the very news article you quoted has two mentions that the Labour party would support extending the ban!"
The article also says "But extending restrictions could involve tearing up the provisions of the treaty signed when Romania and Bulgaria joined the EU".
So anything the two main parties say about extending the ban, is therefore irrelevant, they are making what they must know are empty promises and hollow threats.
UKIP have made their position clear and this is one of the reasons they are increasing their membership.
We buy more from Europe than we sell to them, Europe will not ignore one of its largest export markets just because we don't want to be part of a full political and monetary union and operate outside og the EU parliament.
Meanwhile Britain is becoming less dependent on exports to the rest of the EU as this Guardian report shows: "
UK trade deficit drops after sharp rise in exports outside EU
Exports to non-European Union countries increased by £1.3bn to £13.2bn in July, the Office for National Statistics says". http://tinyurl.com/bqvjp2b”

“How can you say that UKIP is the only political party to object to this, when the very news article you quoted has two mentions that the Labour party would support extending the ban!
"The Labour Party have said they would support any moves to extend the ban."
and
"Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper last week told Andrew Marr that Labour would back an extension on the restrictions on migrants from the two countries working in the UK"
Even the Tories have not objected to it - merely said that there is nothing they can do under EU law
So yet again, I question the UKIP spin on the article, For a "common sense" "straight-talking" party there is an awful lot of truth distortion going on.”

“Unbiased facts? Here are some facts to consider when listening to David Cameron and Ed Miliband.
BBC November 2012:
"Bulgarians and Romanians will gain the unrestricted right to live and work in the UK from December 2013, Home Secretary Theresa May has confirmed.Temporary curbs imposed in 2005 to protect the British labour market are set to expire on that date. The Labour Party have said they would support any moves to extend the ban.But Mrs May told the BBC's Andrew Marr show that was not possible under EU law, although she was hoping to limit the impact on the UK economy. The Home Office has not produced an official estimate of how many of the 29 million Romanian and Bulgarian citizens will take advantage of their new freedoms when controls are lifted.'Pull factors'But some experts predict a large number of immigrants from Eastern Europe, which Labour has warned could put pressure on British jobs and wages. The government's migration advisory committee says there is evidence Bulgarians would move to Britain because of its stronger economy, and it was "plausible" Romanians would come for the same reasons. But extending restrictions could involve tearing up the provisions of the treaty signed when Romania and Bulgaria joined the EU.Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper last week told Andrew Marr that Labour would back an extension on the restrictions on migrants from the two countries working in the UK.But Mrs May told the programme: "There are no further transitional controls we can put on. The transitional controls end in December 2013".

So far, UKIP is the only political party to object to this. It is no wonder that they are gaing popularity.”

“Well I for one never said I was pro-europe. I'm just pro listening to unbiased facts and both sides of an argument (for the record Le Figaro is a conservative French paper so quoting a survey of it's readers is automatically biased to the right).
The UKIP crazies just seem to make up facts, twist them into shocking soundbites designed to play on people's fears.
For example – their webpage states that there are "5,000 immigrants settling here every day".
The official statistics published by the Office For National Statistics state that the immigration levels have remained broadly the same for the past 9 years at around half a million people a year. Now get your calculator out ...that is under 1500 immigrants per day.
Next the UKIP webpage says that "this is not about race, it's about space" – yet the Official Statistics also say that emigration levels are around 350,000 people per year LEAVING the country. This gives us a net migration of 150,000 immigrations to the UK per year. So only actually 400 people per day extra. In terms of "space" for these people that is nothing like the hysterical "5000 a day" headline.
Interestingly the statistics gathered from UK Council Tax information show that there are 920,000 empty homes across the UK with 330,000 being long term empty. So what were we saying about no space for these people?
Also bear in mind that the Official Statistics also tell us that ~250,000 of immigrants are here to study. AKA paying customers of our universities, boosting our economy in the process. UKIP would have you believe that we have 5,000 immigrants a day and they all come and sign-on and get benefits. It's just simply not true.
Where is the party that will tell the truth? Why won't UKIP stick to the truth if they are so adamant that they are different to the other parties?”

“EU supporters are so funny, they want to be in the EU but should wake up to what is happening in Europe before attacking Ukip!
France's employment minister has questioned the economic policies of President Francois Hollande, admitting that the European country is "totally bankrupt."
Michel Sapin's remarks were made during a radio interview on Tuesday, where he also warned against Hollande's controversial "tax and spend" policy, which has made many high-profile people move abroad.
"There is a state but it is a totally bankrupt state," said Sapin, adding, "That is why we had to put a deficit reduction plan in place, and nothing should make us turn away from that objective."
France's Finance Minister Pierre Moscovici gave an immediate response saying the remarks were 'inappropriate.'
Meanwhile, a recent poll in the French daily Le Figaro showed that 80 percent of the population agree with Sapin's viewpoint.
